Hyundai Tucson: Passenger Air Bag (PAB)

Components Location

  1. Passenger Air Bag (PAB)

Removal

  1. Set the front tires straight-ahead.
  2. Disconnect the batteiy negative terminal.

WARNING

After disconnecting the cables, wait at least 3 minutes.

  1. Remove the glove box.

(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Glove Box")

  1. Remove the passenger airbag mounting nuts (A).

  1. Disconnect the passenger airbag connectors (A).

  1. Remove the main crash pad assembly.

(Refer to Body - "Main Crash Pad Assembly")

WARNING

Replace the crash pad which is damaged while PAB is deployed.

  1. Remove the passenger airbag (A) from the crash pad after loosening the mounting bolts.

Installation

Installation

  1. Disconnect the batteiy negative cable from batteiy and wait for at least three minutes before beginning work.
  2. Place a passenger airbag oil the crash pad and tighten the passenger airbag mounting bolts (A).

Tightening torque : 3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m. 2.9 - 4.4 lb-ft)

  1. Install the main crash pad assembly.

(Refer to Body - "Main Crash Pad Assembly")

  1. Connect the passenger airbag connectors (A).

  1. Tighten the passenger airbag mounting nuts (A).

Tightening torque : 3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m. 2.9 - 4.4 lb-ft)

  1. Install the glove box.

(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Glove Box")

  1. Reconnect the batteiy cable (-).
  2. After installing the airbag module, confirm proper system operation.

WARNING

Switch ON the ignition. The SRS indicator light should turn on for about three-six seconds and then off.

Description

The Side Airbags (SAB) are installed inside the front seat and protects the driver and passenger from danger when side crash occurs. The SRSCM determines deployment of side airbag by using Side Impact Sensor (SIS) signal.

WARNING

Never attempt to measure the circuit resistance of the airbag module (squib) even if you are using the specified tester. If the circuit resistance is measured with a tester, accidental airbag deployment will result in serious personal injury.
